"Knowledge of Self" Workshop Series
Our workshop series explores the powerful intersection of Hip Hop’s fifth element—Knowledge of Self—with themes of identity, voice, leadership, history, and culture. Through engaging sessions, we empower learners, educators, and leaders to connect with their authentic selves and embrace their unique stories. Three standout workshops in the series include:
Awakening Knowledge of Self: Don’t Sleep During the Revolution, which encourages participants to recognize the innate greatness within themselves and celebrate how their identities are shaped by their roots.
In How to Lead like an MC (Emcee), participants discover how Hip Hop culture has influenced social movements and how the art of rapping, spoken word, and poetry can be powerful forms of leadership, capable of moving crowds and inspiring change.
It’s the Language for Me, participants explore the complicated history and vocabulary about race, racism, anti-racism and racial justice within the context of US culture.
These workshops offer transformative experiences that bridge personal growth with cultural and societal impact.

"Words, Wits, & Wisdom" Workshop Series
Our workshop series is designed to help learners, leaders, and educators develop dynamic public speaking skills through the vibrant lens of Hip Hop's core values: peace, love, unity, and having fun. This series includes four immersive experiences that blend creative expression with skill-building:
Poetry Slam Competition—teams write and rehearse individual and group pieces to battle on a simulated stage;
Moderated Debate—groups compete in short, impromptu speech acts on randomly chosen topics to sharpen their persuasive speaking;
Remixed Rap Battle—participants explore the intersection of poetry and rap, learning to write rhymes for a competitive cipher; and
Open Mic Poetry Event—an opportunity for all to share original works that reflect their identities, dreams, and philosophical reflections.
These interactive sessions provide a fun, supportive environment where participants can refine their public speaking while embracing Hip Hop culture’s power to inspire and unite.
