“Tony Keith Jr LLC” in Washington DC on Feb. 16, 2019 as a source of income for his part-time work as a poet, educator, and educational consultant. In April of that year, while writing his dissertation, Dr. Keith was laid off from his full-time youth development non-profit job. It was at that moment that he decided to commit his energy to earning a living from his passions and dreams. 

Tony Keith Jr LLC officially began Doing Business As (DBA) “Ed Emcee Academy” on January 1, 2020 as an entrepreneurial expansion of Dr. Keith’s award winning research about poets, spoken word artists, rappers, and emcees who serve as educational leaders in schools, colleges, and communities. One key finding from his study is the language “Educational Emcee(s)” (Ed Emcees) as a title for people who embody Hip-Hop culture and rhythmic spoken words as professional praxes in the field of education.
