“I embrace education, spoken word poetry, digital media, & social justice as not only interconnected parts of my practice, but inseparable ones” - Sacharja
Sacharja Cunningham is a scholar, multimedia poet, and educator whose work explores poetry as a spiritual and political education practice. His research explores Blackness, queerness, memory, home, and liberation struggle as it also shapes his poetry.
Sacharja has been writing poetry for over a decade, and started crafting audiovisual poems more recently. As an educator, he offers poetry workshops as deeply reflective and generative spaces in addition to digital media workshops for projects such as podcasts and videos.
Using instructional design perspectives, he partners with fellow educators to not only plan, but implement curriculums in and outside of the classroom. Similarly, he loves working as a project manager with teams and communities on long-term projects such as building archives and helping fellow scholars with their research.
